Elements made of high-performance ceramics are used in various places in automotive engineering, including in body construction. The reason for this is that when sheets are welded together, they must be positioned exactly in relation to each other, because even slight misalignments can impair the quality of a processed component.

This task is performed by positioning and locating pins made of high-performance ceramics. Welding spatter, extremely high temperatures and high mechanical stress are much less of a problem for them than for conventional pins made of hardened steel. And their service life is up to 40 times longer. As a result, positioning and locating pins made of high-performance ceramics need to be replaced less frequently, systems can run with fewer interruptions, and process and maintenance costs are significantly lower. In the automotive industry, ceramic components can also be used for forming, assembly and testing tasks in other production lines.
