Ceramic dowel pins - also known as dowel pins - play a key role in numerous industrial applications: they are used as stops, bearing shafts for deflection rollers, PCB mounts or positioning elements in fixture construction. They are particularly in demand in welding technology, as they combine mechanical precision with electrical insulation - a combination that metallic alternatives can only offer to a limited extent.
Earlier designs relied on steel pins with a plastic sleeve, but this solution proved to be prone to errors. Plastics deform under pressure and temperature, which impairs the fit and therefore the repeatability of the process. Cylindrical pins made from high-performance ceramics, on the other hand, impress with their dimensionally accurate precision, even under extreme stress.
DOCERAM manufactures these components from the material Z-101, a special zirconium dioxide ceramic with exceptional hardness, flexural strength and impact resistance. The pins are also available in a removable version with an internal thread - for maximum flexibility during installation and removal.
Advantages of ceramic straight pins:
Electrically insulating - ideal for welding and measuring applications
Non-magnetizable and frequency-neutral
Precise fit and temperature-stable - no distortion in continuous use
Resistant to weld spatter, abrasion and cold welding
Long service life even under high mechanical loads
Typical areas of application:
Welding fixtures
Wear protection in machine components
PCB and module positioning
Sensor holders and workpiece carriers
Centering elements for high and low frequency measurements
Thanks to their material properties, ceramic dowel pins from DOCERAM, available from MEGATRON AG, offer a durable, low-maintenance solution for demanding industrial processes - reliable, precise and economical.
