Every electrical appliance - from washing machines to vehicle components - must be checked for functionality before it is shipped. In cell phone production alone, more than a billion devices have to be checked every year. And it is not only the finished electrical products that are tested, but also their individual mechatronic assemblies. The mechanical wear to which the test equipment is subject is correspondingly high. The contact pins on conventional test plugs in particular wear out very quickly. High-performance ceramics provide a remedy here, as they are extremely resistant to wear and breakage.
Ceramic exposures can remain in use for up to six years without failure. Interruptions, which are otherwise part of everyday life due to the wear of conventional recordings, are extremely rare with high-performance ceramics. In addition, ceramics are electrically insulating and electromagnetically neutral, so they do not affect test currents or sensitive electronic components. The dangerous microchips that can occur when using metallic materials and cause short circuits on printed circuit boards, among other things, are also non-existent with high-performance ceramics.
