Forming technology

Advanced ceramics in forming technology. Because for tough tasks, you need even harder tools.

Forming technology, especially in metal processing, is one of the manufacturing processes in which tools are exposed to particular stresses. On the one hand, this is due to particularly hard materials such as shape-hardened sheet metal, which leads to premature tool wear during further mechanical processing. On the other hand, through deposits and adhesions, for example of aluminum on steel tools.

In typical forming processes such as bending, folding or flanging, components made of high-performance ceramics therefore prove to be a superior alternative to conventional materials in many cases. Extremely resistant to fracture and wear, impact resistant and low in adhesion, they can have a service life 50 times longer than conventional solutions. Safer processes and less plant downtime are the result.
