Forming rollers

Forming rollers made of high-performance ceramics - wear-resistant, dimensionally stable, heat-resistant

Forming processes place extreme demands on the durability of the tools used. Forming rollers in particular must reliably withstand high mechanical loads, constant friction and rising temperatures over a long period of time - while maintaining a consistently high surface quality of the workpiece.

Conventional materials such as tool steel or carbide often reach their limits here. This is why more and more manufacturers are turning to high-performance ceramics. Components such as forming rollers made of DOCERAM ceramics, distributed by MEGATRON AG, impress with their extreme hardness, excellent wear resistance and dimensional stability, evenunder dynamic conditions.

The two main ceramic types used are CERAZUR and VOLCERA:

  • CERAZUR is ideal for cold forming processes with high demands on wear and edge impact resistance.

  • VOLCERA shows its strengths particularly in hot forming processes up to 1,100 °C - with exceptional thermal shock resistance and a long service life.

Ceramic forming rollers reduce maintenance costs, extend operating cycles and ensure consistently high product quality - even in series processes with high cycle rates.

Advantages of ceramic forming rollers:

  • Significantly longer service life than steel or carbide

  • Dimensionally stable under thermal and mechanical stress

  • Ideal for cold and hot forming processes

  • Improved process reliability and product quality
